ValerieT
This week we are talking about food! My Mum always says I have a "sweet tooth", and that she could get me to do anything as a child with the promise of my favourite pudding.I've not changed that much I still love sweet things but don't have them often because of the calories. Which got me thinking, a layout about puddings and deserts is completely calorie free.So your challenge today is to create a layout about your favourite pudding or desert. Can't pick just one, then show us more than one. Post your finished pudding layouts in the Thursday Challenge Gallery.Although the layouts will be calorie free, I have a feeling many of these puddings and deserts will appear on our dinner tables over the next week or two. MariJ
OOohhh.. Making me hungry, Valerie! I saw your pretty layout and wondering what exactly is treacle tart? It looks like what we'd call a pie, but what's inside? VERY curious here!

The filling is treacle and/or golden syrup (depending on your tastes) mixed with rolled oats. There are a few other ingredients but that is basically it. You can eat it hot or cold, and you usually have custard or cream with it.
ValerieT
I have a question of my own. We've been trying to work this one out for years and comes back up when we have a hot pudding. What is pie???????? Pie over here is savoury, like steak and kidney pie, or chicken and mushroom pie, or even shepherds pie.

MariJ
I have a question of my own. We've been trying to work this one out for years and comes back up when we have a hot pudding. What is pie???????? Pie over here is savoury, like steak and kidney pie, or chicken and mushroom pie, or even shepherds pie. Hmmmm..... I'm not sure what a 'hot puddling' is, either!? When I think of pie I think of a dessert pie - which usually has a bottom pastry-type crust and a sweet filling, often apple, peach, blueberry, cherry - whatever. But, it can be mince or a sweet pudding like lemon or custard too -- or many other things. There is even a (sweet) pumpkin or sweet potato pie mostly at Thanksgiving. I know Jody laughed when she heard this as she said their pumpkin was savory, not sweet. Some dessert pies also have a crust on top, some don't and might have crumbs or even a lattice of pastry across the top. That's the way it is in my house and area. Anyone else can chime in. We do have something more like a dinner pie - what you might call savory. But, I'm not so sure they'd be called a "Pie". Although there is like a "chicken pot pie" using chicken, vegetables with a gravy, etc "Pie" to me is usually sweet and a dessert. Have I confused you even more? ewaechter
Yes, this challenge is definitely making me hungry! One of my (many) favorites is Red Velvet Cake and I chose Doris Castle's Amour collection because it really is a love story! Here is my layout. alsoarty
I don't like puddings, or desserts, but there are 2 from South Africa that I can't resist having some - ok, have a huge bowl full - warm and with cold custard. Here is my puddings layout.
