Samsung Galaxy Tab4

Not sure if this the correct place, but...

I bought a Galaxy Tab 4 primarily to read books and check email. It is so confusing I may not keep it. Anyone use one of those instead of an iPad?

Currently I am reading books through Overdrive on my MacPro laptop. I get the books from the library but with a Mac Pro you have to stay logged into the internet to read them.

I would like to be able to download them to read them. I can download to the Mac but still need to be logged in to read them.

I've read a manual for the galaxytab4 on the internet, but it doesn't even mention books, but mentions news, etc.

Can anyone give me any information?

I have a Kindle Fire and love it, Jean. I can read, surf the internet, play games on apps and even watch netflix amongst other things!
I do have the overdrive app on my Kindle and I just opened it, turned off WiFi and was able to read the book which means it's downloaded to my device.

I have an older Kindle Fire but the new ones even have cameras!

It's so nice to see you here again, missed you.

(OOPS! Just went back and reread and see you were asking about the Galaxy, not what anyone else has. Sorry about that, I don't know anything about the Galaxy Tab4)

I check out books via overdrive/public library and read them on my Kindle OR my Samsung tablet (tab 10.1) using the Kindle app. No problems. I love my Samsung tablet. I much prefer Android to Apple.

Have you considered using the Kindle app for this?? When you check it out, it takes you to Amazon and you finish your check just like you were buying a book and it downloads to your Kindle (app or device). Hope this helps. Keep us posted!

With this said, my table is dead and I'm hoping for a new one soon! I think the tab 4 is on the top of my list, but have done little research at this point.

Thanks everyone for answering. I miss you too, Marilyn, and everyone. This year I have not been able to scrap, but have been reading a lot. We are helping two family members, one with dementia and my sister who has had a stroke and cannot speak. It is heart-rending at least.

Hopefully I can get back to scrapping before long. This has been a long dry spell. :)

The Samsung Galaxy Tab4 is beyond me, I'm afraid. I have been going in circles with it since I got it. Can't get the ____ voice to shut up,:), and it is slow as molasses. I've charged battery, managed to get email address in it, and a few things, but cannot do anything with it.I debated getting the iPad, or a simpler reader like Kindle or Nook but I only want to read from the library e-books, not buy books. I know you all are doing it, but it's hard for me right now.

If you are "just" wanting to read books with it, I LOVE (and prefer) my Kindle for that. I check the majority of the books out that I read and download them to the kindle. Hope you get it figured out!! Sorry it's a hassle for you.

Hang in there...we will be here waiting when you have time to scrap again!

So sorry, Jean for all the hard things, that is really a lot to be dealing with.

As Conda says - a Kindle is an easy reader and you can read Library books on it. I understand it's hard for you to deal with it now though, so here's a suggestion if it works for you.
I'm actually pretty good at things like this but was having trouble with Kindle and setting it up with the Library online. So, I went into my Library to ask and the woman at the reference desk set the whole thing up for me on the Kindle! It might be worth a try to call or stop in to see if there is someone to help - either with the Galaxy or maybe they could suggest a tablet that is easy for their program or that they could help you with.

Sending lots of hugs, please take care and check in when you can. As Conda said, we'll be here. xo XOXO

Sorry things are so hectic right now. It must be hard for you. I also use a kindle and download library books. It's a little awkward, but I can get it to work. Perhaps a kindle app on your tablet would work? I have no experience with the galaxy tablet, sorry. Hope you can get this to work - asking the librarian sounds like a good idea. My library here also has someone who works with the ebooks and their readers.
