I am sure we all had a wonderful time last night, but can those of you who were singing “Over the Rainbow” until the early hours please enroll in some singing lessons (available in the bar most mornings).

Add something music related to your layout.

Post your completed layout in the Scrap Girls Retreat Gallery. This is worth one button on the Daily Journal.

Never seen this movie. How would I go about finding out something about it.

You must try to see it ...It is an american classic...just watch out for the flying monkeys. Let us know if you see it and how you like it.

So glad to get the final task early and be able to post before going to the boat with the slooooow internet at the marina. Here is my Wizard of Oz. I went with the B&W begining with the sky paper, swirling tornado brushes from my stash and the jumbled frames then added some music. :band_drummer:

Well, I've been trying to follow along (did you hear my off-key singing?) but it's hard with my computer having issues. It was too difficult to do a Wizard of Oz layout, but I DID try a recipe card. It's kinda flat since I currently have no styles, shadows -- anything!

But, maybe we should share it with the retreat chef. Are we allowed Margaritas on a retreat? :D

I posted this in the Recipe Swap Gallery, but wanted to participate and share a link here!

You can be sure I wasn't part of the singing last night! I only sing in the car to annoy my children!!

I'm going off the grid for a few days, so don't have too much fun without me!

Here's my take on The Wizard of Oz movie.

The Story: The drive between Colorado and Missouri can be quite boring--not much exists in between eastern Colorado and western Kansas. So, the first time I saw a Starbucks sign, I almost drove off the road. And being the coffee connoisseur as you ladies know me to be, that fantabulous Caramel Macchiato really worked Wizard of Oz magic!

I'm sidetracked by finishing a product for this coming week and finishing plans for my son's birthday party this weekend.

I had a layout started for the Oz theme, but music totally does not fit it, lol. I may just post it without the music, since I'm playing for fun anyway:)

I hear ya about the music thing throwing it off. I might add a bird to my layout, they sing, right?

They totally sing! I went with the monkeys for my theme...as in, my middle boy is a total monkey, climbing anything and everything. Do monkeys also sing, LOL?

Today we are heading out to the local Art Gallery, where you will get to see some amazing pieces.

Pick any painting by one of these artists to use as your inspiration for your next layout.

Claude Monet

Vincent Van Gogh

Andy Warhol

Salvador Dali

Make sure you tell us which piece of art you have picked and why.

I chose a painting by Vincent van Gogh, "The Courtyard of the Hospital at Arles". I picked it because we visited Arles in 2009 and I have photos I took of the courtyard. I thought it would be fun to use them together with an image of his painting.

I love Starry Night and Irises by van Gogh. Two of Monet's that I love are Woman With A Parasol and Water Lilies and the Japanese Bridge. I'm choosing Monet's Water Lilies because the Botanical Garden had an exhibition of Monet a few years ago and they created a replica of the Bridge. I took some photos of it which I'll probably use in my layout.

I love Monet and was going to do a beach scene like one of his, but I knew Warhol was Pop Art and I felt like that would be fun. When I spotted Ethel Skull I thought of my ever funny grand nephew and knew I had to do that one, using all the pics I have of him being crazy. I ran JSM_SS_Comic Line art action on each cropped face and it was perfect. Then I put a colored square under the pic and used my selection tool to get rid of the white so whatever color I chose would show through. The magic of PSE. I love playing.
