A Long, Long Time Ago...

Hi, Girls! It's my first time back to ScrapGirls after a few years of having lots of babies :)

A long, long time ago I feel like I remember Ro having a group of challenges where she would have us ask questions of ourselves and then scrap our answers...kind of a way to find out more about the inner "me". I was too young before to know what a great idea that was, but now I'd love to use it during some of those rare moments when I find myself alone.

Does ANYONE remember this or am I completely crazy?

Glad to be back with you all!

Welcome back! :welcome2: You joined the forum the same week I did. :)

I remember those challenges-- not that I actually did them. I'm thinking they were in the newsletters and those archives were cleaned out at the end of last year.

We cleaned out the old forum categories before our last forum upgrade a few years ago, so if there were corresponding threads, I'm pretty sure those are gone too.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone else has them saved somewhere. Kind of wish I did.

Welcome back to Scrap Girls. That was a bit before my time. We still have awesome challenges.

I love your new avatar, Belle! :)

I have all the 'old' newsletters saved going back to March 2007. I've been planning on turning them into into PDF or Word files. I have that 'Print Friendly' app on my computer so it's real easy to change. It just takes a lot of time. I have over 2,000 newsletters. As I slowly turn them into PDF's If I find anything in reference to those challenges, I'll let you know and post in a thread.

Just found an article in a newsletter entitled "Muse". I wonder if that is what you are looking for. I remember them, and I even wrote one myself for the newsletter. I'll create a PDF and post it.

Created a Word Document but it doesn't look as good as the PDF. Any help as to how to post it here in the thread? I'm not sure how to do it.

Hi Carol,

I'm thinking that if you have Dropbox, you can save the document to your Dropbox Public folder, then right click on the document, and from the drop down choose Copy public link. Then you can paste the link in your forum post. It's been a while since I've done anything like that, so I'm not real sure. Maybe someone else will have some ideas for you. HTH :)

Welcome Back! Having children really does change your outlook and makes you reevaluate things, doesn't it?

It REALLY does!! Oh, to be young and carefree again! I have a 5yo, a 4yo, and an 8 month old. I used to not have much to scrap, now I'm trying to find time to scrap. I guess that means I've been extra blessed!!!

Wow! Thanks! And now that you mention it, I do remember that word "Muse." How neat that you got to write one! I ALWAYS wanted to have something in the newsletter!

I think I may have found something in an old email (thanks, lorac!!) it's called "Bachelor's degree in me." I'm going to see if I can find more in the newsletters, but she directed people to the forum and that was in 2006, so I'm hoping I didn't delete any newsletters! Thanks for all your help!!

Btw...is Ro still around?

Yes! That is what they were called. I hope you can find the newsletters too! I saved mine, but my sweetheart unintentionally deleted the folders when we were switching computers around. He had backed it all up, but I didn't realize it for a long time, so there were new back-ups in place by then.

Ro sold Scrap Girls to Debbie in 2012 and, sadly, is no longer a part of the forum.

I do - sorta - remember those challenges. I searched my saved files, and didn't find those, but did find several other prompts by Ro that I saved: two Life Books; Journaling Story Starters; Muse Ideas; and "It's time to" . . . things to let go or do. They're all word files, and I've never used dropbox - something new to learn - so I'm not sure how to share them.

I do think I will print them, and post them prominently near my computer.
