Hi Everyone! My dh and I are interested in buying a home treadmill. Dh is in the Army and needs to run often, but can do that at work. I took up running this past spring, while I trained for a 5K, but stopped when the race was over. Now, I want to get back into it, but because of the cold and time crunch, I need to purchase a treadmill.

So, who has one? What do you love/hate about yours? Any recommendations? Thank you for any info you can share with me. I went online to research them and my head is spinning!

We just bought one last night! so I don't know if I love it, but the salesman said make sure the motor is as large as you can afford if you are planning on running on it, and look for a large size, long and wide, makes it easier. Lots of sales on now, so good luck.

Mine is like 7 years old but it is a professional quality Proform (Proform.com) and it still works like a champ. Very heavy duty with all the bells and whistles. It was very expensive at the time ($1000) but they may have come down since then. The are top quality.

We have a NordicTrack and it is high end with way more than we use but were told if we wanted to use it daily to get the upper end. We paid $1200. for it in 1997 and it still works great!

I have about 50 at Gold's Gym. I have't used them yet. I am inclined to think that the ones installed in the movie room are the best kind.

That's my unscientific take on the question.

No help at all.

Maybe one of these days I will actually use one of them. But I have used the epitical machines. Sliding about seems to be my style, know what I mean?

Slip... sliding.. away... (who sang that song?)

Thanks for all the great input. I'll have to check out NordicTrack and Proform. I've only looked at the brands my dh has at work, and they are all pretty expensive. I really don't want to spend a fortune, but I do want a high quality treadmill. I'd love to get a gym membership, but I don't think my girls would stay in the daycare at the gym. I'll keep looking around and comparing! Thanks!
