melissamargaret
I've been making 12x12 calendars for Christmas for several years now using Snapfish but at $25 a pop (Shutterfly is even worse), I can't really afford it anymore. I know people make their own but I haven't a clue how they do it. So I guess what I'm asking is what my options are. Ideally what I'd like to do is find software to do it, then take it to get it professionaly printed and a spiral spine put on. Is that possible? Seems like it ought to be (oh, I should mention here I use a Mac which may limit the possibilities thing) but I guess alternatively I could make some sort of template with a little guidance. Any input definitely appreciated. Christmas will be here before you know it.
mbc72
We have several templates in the boutique that can help you make your own calendars in your scrapping program. Calendars I think I have heard mention that the office stores will print and bind them for you, but I have never had this done myself. Here is a thread that talks about printing calendars... melissamargaret
Thanks Melanie. I did see some 12x12 grid templates that might work. also read the thread but confess to finding it a little bit confusing
MariJ
Hi Melissa Margaret, As Melanie said, Office Supplies do print calendar pages and I know Staples will bind for you. My Staples makes color card-stock prints for about $1 so a calendar would be approx. $12. That said, I'm not sure they print 12x12 (& I'm fairly sure they don't) so you'd have to make your pages a size they do print. I had your dilemna last summer - what I ended up doing is placing 2 calendar pages on an 8.5x11" page and then cutting it in half - so each calendar was 8.5x5.5" (or you can do them vertically). Then I bound them myself, but you'd need a bind-it all. And, they were a smaller sized calendar. The other thing is to wait for a Snapfish or Shutterfly sale, which can be quite good. I do know Walmart and places like Costco, Sam's and BJ's also print but I don't think any of them is inexpensive. I don't know how many copies you need, but it's possible a print shop or even office supply store can give you a good price if you are printing a large amount. I'm interested in seeing if anyone else has experience with inexpensive printing.

Maybe that might help.
lindarobin
I've been making 12x12 calendars for Christmas for several years now using Snapfish but at $25 a pop (Shutterfly is even worse), I can't really afford it anymore... what my options are. For affordability, Costco's calendars are $9.99. They are 8.5x11 though, not 12x12. If you can live with having your scrapbook pages printed as 8x8 in the middle of each page (or drag and drop your images into their collage templates), this is a good option. Other online printing services offer a similar calendar product. http://www.costcophotocenter.com/assets/en-US/ShopProducts/Calendars/ClassicCalendar/preview
lindarobin
Ideally what I'd like to do is find software to do it, then take it to get it professionaly printed and a spiral spine put on. Most economical way: provide Staples (or other business printing service) with a multi-page PDF created for tabloid size, portrait-oriented paper. Tabloid size (11x17) is a standard size for commercial printers. Non-standard sizes can cost a lot more. Bind the pages together at the top. Each page shows images on the top part of the page; the month dates on the lower part of the page. Do you have a desktop publishing program on your Mac? Ideally, a program that allows you to create a project with multiple pages and also convert everything to PDF.
melissamargaret
Thanks so much all!! . Am still pondering but I lean towards a Shutterfly sale. I notice they have one for September 50% off but I wonder if I could get that together in time--have several more Los I'd like to do. Lots to think about and even if I find a Shutterfly sale, I'll hang on to the advice and get more adventurous next year. Don't know why it never occurred to me that I could do 8x8 in the middle of a larger page
