I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Somehow, in the clipping process, the photo gets almost transparent. I'll experiment a bit and see if I can give you some ideas of what to do. Meanwhile someone else might come along with the solution. Also you can send a private message to Syndee (Syndeesaid) and I'm sure she can help you out.

I'm back with a solution. It's not elegant but it works. Copy the snow globe layer then fill the copy with a light blue color or any color that looks like the edge of the snow globe. (Edit > Fill Layer). Put the filled snow globe layer under your photo and clip the photo to it. Now take the original, transparent, snow globe layer and put that on top of the photo. So you wind up with 3 layers:

top: transparent snow globe

middle: photo which is clipped to

bottom: snow globe that has been filled with color.

I hope that works for you!

I tried your method Diane, but now I can't get rid of the blue around the outside of the globe. I've tried the magic wand tool and selected the outside, but I can't delete the blue. I've tried inverting the selection, but that didn't work either. I've tried pressing delete, backspace, but I don't know what else to try. I know it's probably something really simple that I'm doing wrong.
