Midwest Meet-up 2016

Flights are looking good for me right now...less than 500 for FIRST class! Are we set? What's stopping us from committing to the hotel and travel plans?

First class? Ooo la la... :D

I'm to sure if Laura has gotten the contract and etc. from the hotel. And since today isn't a "working" day...maybe we can get that nailed down tomorrow???

Thanks everyone for all the hotel scouting! I am in the middle of moving Mom to assisted living. She fell Thursday (not hurt) which has sped up the process of moving by a few months.

I am sorry to hear about that. I hope all goes well!

yes, the contracts were emailed to them so they just have to do something on there end to add it to the system. I will post the green flag and contact information when they are ready for us to book!

Ok, I just got confirmation from Sue Hagin at Holiday Inn Express that we can start booking rooms. You can call 618-632--0400 and ask for Sue Hagin to book the rooms for the "Scrapgirls Weekend" from Sept 30 to Oct 2. The rooms are $99 each (King or 2 double beds).

Does everyone plan to come in on Thursday as usual? (the 29th?) I notice the block of rooms starts Friday, which canprobably be easily changed....no big deal either way, just need the clarification. (I don't want anyone booking wrong flights!!!!)

I like to fly in Thursday. Looks like Laura included Thursday on the contract.

Hey, I was thinking that if you ladies are interested in going to Carlyle Lake on Saturday, we could stop at Excel Bottling and do a tour of their Brewery and see how they make Ski (a soda that is bottled in my home town). I know someone who works there and can give us a good tour but they do regular tours on Saturdays at 10am. Here is the website: http://excelbottling.com/about/

I was thinking we can then have lunch in that same town, at Dairy King. It is my all time favorite place to eat. It can get busy, so maybe if we eat after the tour (probably 11ish?) then maybe it won't be too bad. Here is the website for them: http://edairyking.com/

And if the weather is nice and you all want to go to Carlyle Lake and want some exercise, we can walk on the Carlyle Lake Dam (Spillway), and down to the General Dean Suspension Bridge (

Just near all of this, there is also the sailboat harbor that my have boats in it (

The restaurant/Excel Bottling is about 30 minutes from the hotel and the lake is just 15 minutes further than the restaurant.

Any opinions? Is it too far away?

Without looking at the links, it sounds interesting! I was always a sucker for the clips on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood that showed how crayons were made, lol! And I love Unwrapped (an adult version). Seeing how it is all done is fun. And I love the water....river, lake, ocean....it doesn't matter!

Laura YB and I are set for a room.

Laura, I'm open to whatever. You're the native guide, so pick things that make this area fun/unique.

Who else has rooms/roommates that haven't made it public knowledge?
