Need some Input

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! I'm still plugging away on my scrapbook...Here is my first 2 pages of our style show showing guests....as you can see I'm trying to keep it formal.....does it look ok?? My main concern is the Christmas one...I had to use very small pictures via the layout...My concern,,,I think it looks too cutsie...ruining the formality of everything...do I need to use a different paper...open to suggestions!!

I see what you mean. The Christmas layout is a totally different look. The rectangles of embellishments distract from the photos. Perhaps fewer embellishments, without backgrounds, of a more subtle, silver metallic look.

BTW, it seems that images we add to our posts are now limited to 600 pixels as the longest dimension. A complete screen capture can't show much detail. Can you crop your screen captures to show just your pages?

I agree with lindarobin. If you keep your holiday party limited to black and silver (you can use patterned papers -- but I would keep them black and silver/silver glitter), with silver/silver-glittered accents, it will keep the feel of formality.

I guess I answered my own question....Thats what I thought...maybe not the right layout template. I guess I'm kind of stuck...I could go back and make the pictures colored....I have a feeling its just too many photo slots going straight across.

That last page with multiple images is very busy. And I agree, I think the embellishments detract rather than enhance. Maybe more pages for those so there aren't so many pix per page. There is no where for the eyes to rest.

Oh wow! I've done a few albums myself and struggled with some of the same difficulties you are having.

One of the things I've learnt is that an album isn't the same as a layout. It's good to keep things simple and consistent through the album pages, not matter how boring it gets. I also don't like to overload each page with too many photos. The maximum I've ever used is four but usually less than that. If I have four on a page, the facing page often might be just a single large photo.

I think you've got the elegance right using black and silver. You could try using the same effects on your fonts. For example the silver glitter every time you use the script font. And you might want to try different sizes to distinguish titles and subtitles.

Good luck, I know this is going to be awesome!

To me the main focus on the Christmas page are the embellishments and not the photos. I think get your photos back to colour and ditch the Christmas tree etc. Eden's words are wise - if you have room to spread your photos over several pages do that too.

I've done a few photo books now and it requires completely different skills to scrap booking single pages. Stick with it kiddo and you'll get there. :)

Ok, I've redone it...let me know what you think.....The reason I put the silver behind first photo is I didn't want to enlarge it any further...I actually used AFT glitter in silver...... I just hope it comes across as glitter and not looking like a pattern.

It looks great! :)

Oh Thank you so much for your kind words!! On that note, I did this layout but wondering if I should change out the colors a bit...not sure if this is too vibrant to go with the rest of pages...Need to maybe incorporated some yellow and black and do away with teal....thoughts???
