Making your own templates?

Recommended Posts

I would like to make some templates based on some old paper layouts I've done but I'm just wondering if there's any tips or things I should know when making your own templates? I use PSE (13) & I'm okay with recreating the shapes and I understand why some templates are different shades of gray (so you can color/clip different papers to multiple shapes of the same grayscale all at once, I think?) but my big questions are 1) Do I HAVE to use multiple shades for shapes and 2) Do my shapes have to be gray or can I use black (or any other color for that matter?)

Thanks for any advice!

use phoshop cc but think that shape can be black cause you can always change the color with blending modes..but i am not sure so will watch and see what others post

I don't see why you can't use all the same shade, as long as you can tell the objects apart. I think different shades are used to help with that. And I've used all colors when creating my own templates. Have fun!
