SJDodd
Hi All - I just bought a new IMac (steep learning curve, so frustrating) and had to download a new version of PSE - I had 6 and now have 14. Was told that whatever I had loaded in my PSE6 would come over to my upgrade - it has not. That aside, I now go to download Picasa (my favorite) and find out that it is going away or worse, gone! Google has something new?? Can anyone offer suggestions? I love Picasa! Should I download it anyway, or fumble through some new alternative that google has to offer? Appreciate any thoughts! teecee
Hi Sandy, Google no longer supports Picasa. I love it too, and have used it for years. Though I can no longer get support from Google, it still runs fine on my PC. Here's an older thread with a little more information about it: Picasa Is Being Retired By Google. alsoarty
Apple has a great search tool - that's what I use. Picasa was too frustrating to me anyway. HTH Oh and to make sure you have all your PSE files - drag and drop the presets etc into the new PSE.
SJDodd
Thanks much! While I think I could download Picasa, I'm not sure if I want to do this or just suck it up and find something new. You say Apple has a great search tool, do you mean with their Googlephotos? And do you know if I can drag and drop an entire folder at a time? Or do I need to load everything separate? Sorry if that is a silly question, I have not played with anything on new PSE 14 yet... Sandy

I would open the folder select all and then drop it into the preset folder of choice. When in FINDER just click on FILE and scroll down to FIND and do a search - eg. flower and all the flowers that are on your computer will show up. Hope I explained that correctly. MariJ
Like Andrea, I use the Finder on my Mac - just type in what I want in the search box. On a new Mac if you hit "Command + Space Bar" at the same time the "Spotlight" search box comes up. If you type what you want in there, it will show you not only what's on your computer, but the internet, etc. Good Luck.

Thanks again - one more thing - with Picasa everything was sorted by folder which was great for me. I don't want to see a mish-mosh of flowers from different collections. I'd rather see each collection individually. Sandy

But, if I highlight one at the bottom of the finder window it will show me the path of where it is - including the folder it's in.
Deb C.
I tried your suggestion to use the Finder to search for your SB supplies. Is there a way to see several of them on a page instead of having to scroll down so much? I only see one flower and then I have to scroll down to see another one. Also, not only did it bring up all my flowers, but it also brought up articles that probably included the word "flower." Is there a way to only see the actual flowers? Always looking for easier ways to search for things. Thanks for your suggestions. Deb
Deb C.
Another question. I never did like Picasa and would like to delete it from my computer. However, I read somewhere that if you delete a picture from Picasa, then it will also be deleted from your hard drive. So I was afraid to delete it because I was afraid I would lose all my pictures. Does anyone know about this? Thanks again Deb PSE 9 MacBook Pro running Yosemite

Thanks again Deb PSE 9 MacBook Pro running Yosemite Deb, Picasa is just an indexing software, so yes if you delete a picture while in Picasa it will delete it from the folder it is located in on your drive because that's what it's actually looking at. Working from the other direction, since Picasa doesn't store any of the photos in the program, deleting the program won't affect anything other that Picasa itself.
