terriscrapper
Hi!! I use an iMac......my question is where do you store all of your finished layouts??? So far I have them in My Pictures but as you know those files are huge!! I use IPhoto for regular pictures....thought about storing them in ICloud but that's kind of scary....don't know about an outside source. I use IIphoto to store all of my kits in a separate library....I have passport and use Time Machine..so can go back to recover files.
Becster
Hi! I use a Windows PC, but all my scrapping files (including Layouts) are stored on an external hard dive. I have it set to back up to Drop Box.

Marji, what kind of external drive do you have??? I have passport, that makes my Time Machine work. Do you use Time machine? Now please bear with me....you may have to talk to me like a kindergartener......I see my files on Passport go back to 2013......it's about 3/4 full....do I add another external? I'm thinking these files are so huge may fill it up?? I just tried dropbox...nice but not in any file organization and would not load psd files. jenrou
Trying to figure things out on a MAC (which I use) is mind boggling. I have about 6 or 8 EHDs almost full and can't find anything at times. Good luck. I like the Mac because it is so fast.

I Love the mac....to me it is like High Definition......you can really get up close and see everything.......You have that many?? Wow!! What kind do you have?? I have Passport.....do you back up your psd files and if so on your externals??

I use a Toshiba 1 TB EHD that yes, is hooked up to Time Machine. I just plug it in and it backs everything up. I'm not sure about Passport, I just went on Amazon and bought one that had good reviews and I've used Toshiba previously. I'm really not sure about adding another external, I've never had to do that. I know you can buy a 2TB which might hold the whole thing? I also bought another hard drive to back up things I really don't want to lose, like my .psd files. Even though everything is backed up on Time Machine, I made a folder on the extra EHD named "PSD Files and I drag and drop copies in there. I was told I shouldn't go into my Backup copy and mess with it, so when I want to retrieve a psd file I get it from this EHD. I have uploaded .psd files to DropBox and they load fine. It's what Carla and I do if I make the Motivators' Chart for ScrapGirls, I drop it into a folder on DropBox and she picks it up on her end! Hope that helps, I'm not real knowledgeable on this except for what I've done.

You didn't delete them off correct??? You have helped me a lot...Passport is Western Digital....I did drag files in there as you stated.....but HAVE NOT deleted them off hard drive....I'm scared to. In regards to dropbox....I bet you have Dropbox business.....I bet you pay for service....it took 1/2 hr. to load one file....I'm sure it takes a lot of space. I have the freebie No, what I do is drag a copy of the psd files onto an external, then delete them from my hardrive. I think I also copied them onto another older EHD just to have two copies. Actually, when I drag them onto the EHD the actual file goes so I don't even have to delete. For Dropbox, nope. I only have the free version of DropBox and I literally drag a psd file from my computer and drop it into a DropBox folder. It uploads very quickly and easily, I can't say I've ever had any trouble with it. For sure the free version won't hold a lot of files, for that and more storage space you'd have to pay and upgrade. But, really I've never had it take more than a minute, possibly two to upload a psd file. Hope that helps! Marilyn

Marilyn Now I'm baffled.....did you flatten or merge visible your files and save it as as psd.....that would make a lot of difference on size. I did not do that because I wanted to load it back into PSE to see what I did. I just looked....my file is 752.3....I just looked up 1024 + 1G so in other words I could only add a little over 2 files....

And, yes you are correct - as I said above, "For sure the free version won't hold a lot of files, for that and more storage space you'd have to pay and upgrade." What I was mostly addressing here was that it IS possible (for me anyway!) to upload psd files to dropbox. But, if you want to use it for storage for all of your psd files, yes I'd think you'd have to pay and upgrade dropbox to hold more. Hope that helps!
