Help with Dropbox

Recommended Posts

I'm frustrated!! Two things.....I downloaded the desktop app.....I never didd get a pop up window to sign in....it shows in finder, I dragged files in....clicked on view in dropbox....takes me to a completely other site....when I go to online web site the files haven't synced.....

Also, Marji knows this...I can't load my psd files....it took over 1/2 hr....I tried to upload from web site and using upload button....I read that the files are not limited if you do it from the desktop...

About ready to pull my hair out!!

Hmmm...

Did you set up your dropbox all at once? Like did you sign up online and download your folder in one session, or did you do them on separate days? The fact that you were taken to a completely different site makes me worry that somehow a "fake" dropbox account was somehow introduced to your computer. There are phishing sites that look similar to real ones, but they are fake. You have to really check the web address, and the publisher and make sure you have the correct one.

Dropbox is: https://www.dropbox.com (Note the https -- that's important. If you think you're on dropbox's site and that "s" isn't there...you're not on the real site.)

Since you don't have any files to lose -- or if you do, make sure you get them out of your computer's dropbox folder and put them somewhere else on your computer. Then, I'd uninstall anything related to dropbox and start from scratch, making sure you go to the proper dropbox website. Then when you sign up again, make sure you have the time to complete all the steps at one time -- sign up, download the folder, etc.

Let us know how it goes!

  • 1 month later...

I love dropbox, it is worth figuring out. If I forget something I get to my home computer through my laptop using teamviewer. Then grab what I want and put it in the db folder. Then within seconds or minutes, depending on how big the file is, I have it available to grab out of the db folder and use it on my laptop.

I echo all that Jennifer said!

I love Dropbox. I have it set to sync my cellphone photos (and my husband's!). This feature is super handy!!
