Your challenge is to use a frame in your layout but do not fit the photo to the frame. (You don't have to frame a photo - you can frame a patterned paper, ephemera, etc. However, whatever you choose to frame should not fit perfectly into the frame.) Use a stack of different papers in the center of your page. Place your photo on the top of the papers. Place a frame as a separate layer above the photo, but not framing the photo edge to edge.
