alsoarty
Every evening I will post a new subject to be photographed the following day. (To give everyone a chance of participating). At the end of 5 days you will make a layout using all 5 photos. One winner will be chosen to receive a $5 GC. Let's get our cameras ready for a fun filled photography week. I'll update the card each evening....so be ready to check and shoot. Remember to upload your daily photo here in this thread.

Mikelle
Funny, I just took a photo of my phone not too long ago, for my Project Life daily prompts. But there was no depth of field, I’ll have to experiment with that.

alsoarty
I just tried to take my photo....both batteries are dead! Charging now. Shows you how little I use my camera. Browsing my camera Manuel to see if I can work out this depth of field thing.
alsoarty
Lauren just told me the new iPhone can get depth of field shots. Portrait mode. Just in case anyone’s interested.
scrapgran
Shooting in manual to get a shallow depth of field (blurry background) use a low f/stop (ie aperture say f2.8). To have the background in focus use a higher f/stop eg f8.
alsoarty
Yes, that is correct. We can try to get a depth of field, but don’t let that stop you taking your photo. . .
alsoarty
Here is my attempt at depth of field, it took a few tries. I could have chosen a better surface, but my old sofa will have to do.

alsoarty
It all gets confusing to meme. One way to remember the relationship between f-stop and depth of field, or the distance over which focus remains sharp, is simply to think of the f as focus: The higher the f-stop number, the larger the zone of sharp focus, so a smaller f stop gives you that nice depth of field.
