When I download freebies or other kits and then go to My Pictures to open, I get a message that says the image is too large (too many bytes) What do I do to be able to overcome this problem?
Do I need a better photo editor?

Yes, you will. A lot of us have graphic programs such as Photoshop Elements, Photoshop, PSP, etc.
However, you can even open a Word document and insert them there. In fact, I always print directly from Word. You can even make digital scrapbooking pages in Word! Check out the Univeristy to learn more about that, if you're interested.
If you try to print from My Pictures, you'll get poor results.
Here id a link that show you how to set up a Word Document to handle 12x12.

Hi hiskid!
I bought Ro's Scrapbooking Secrets Revealed because it teaches you everything for scrapbooking right in word. I highly recommend it. Once I got going in word, then I slowly moved up to PHotoshop elements.
