Safari In Kenya!

My DH and I are going on a safari in Kenya in January.
I bet there is someone here that has been on a safari in Africa and knows what to bring and not!

I thought about taking two cameras, my EOS 350D and my EOS 400D, so that I can have one with a longer tele-lens and one with a shorter... But maybe this is overdoing it?

I also thought about not "schlepping" my laptop with me, but then I don't have any place to empty my memory-cards...

Thess, what type of memory does you camera take? I know that on line you can buy 2 gig cards for less than $50 each. They would be much lighter than your laptop! LOL And you wouldn't have to worry about the laptop being stolen! I can get 600+ photos on my 2 gig SD card with my SLR at full res. The camera is a 6.1.

Of course! I think I'm having a :blondmoment: !!!
My cameras take Flash-cards, and I just checked an on-line store here in Sweden, and they even make them in 4GB...

Thanks for the warning!!!
I'll keep that in mind!

I went to Kenya on a missions trip 2 years ago. We went to Masi Mari for a day visit while there. I would definitely reccomend taking you telephoto lenses. I had only a smaller inexpensive digital camera at the time and my pictures of elephants looked like dots on the picture. Others had better zoom lenses and were able to pull them in far better. Remember if you take a laptop with you that the electrical current is different there so you may need a converter. Regardless of what animals you see, you will get pictures of a lifetime. That country is so beautiful and so exotic. I was just awed to be able to drive around a see giraffes, zebras, wildabeasts and others out in the wild. It is awesome.
