Wishing all of you a healthy and wonderful New Year:

Do you use vitamins, herbs, or any kind of Diet Supplement? Are you aware that they can interact with other medications? And in some cases interact very, very badly with medications your Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, or Dentist might prescribe to you?

Please make a detailed list of any medication, vitamins, herbs, or diet supplements you take, when you take them, and how much you take each time you take anything. Also include any allergies or sensitivities you may have. Take this list with you whenever you go to see your Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, or Dentist.

Also, your Pharmacist is your friend – they can tell you if a medication will interact badly with any other vitamin, herb, or diet supplement. Your Pharmacist can also tell you if you are taking two medications for the same thing. Your Pharmacist can also help you in terms of what questions to ask your Healthcare provider regarding medications, vitamins, herbs, and diet supplements. For example, there may be a cheaper medication out there that you could take instead of what you have been prescribed; However, only your Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, or Dentist can prescribe medication, but your Pharmacist can tell you what the name of this cheaper medication is so you can ask your Provider about it.

Tell your hairdresser what suppliments you take before you have any chemical service done, color, bleach, highlight, perm! You would not believe the stories I could tell about what they do in the hair to mess with the chemicals! LOL
