As some of you know, I travel about 2 weeks of every month, and my old laptop just can't handle PSE3- well, it can, it just takes it own sweet time about it.

So, I've decided to get me a new one- I think I want a dual processor and 2G RAM, and a CD/DVD burner, and a card reader and I'll need a PC card slot for my air card.

Does anyone else here use a laptop? What do you wish you had to make it work better? Any suggestions for what I should look for? Anyone have a favorite manufacturer they trust?

I plan to use PSE5 and PSCS2 on it, and possibly my WACOM tablet.

Sounds like you are on the right track there. Of course, plenty of hard drive space (I didn't need to tell you that) and a DVDburner.

I got a laptop for Christmas, which I love, but I do the bulk of my digital scrapbooking at the desktop because it's more comfortable. Also, I wanted a small laptop and while the screen is beautiful, it's not terribly big so it's harder to see what I'm doing. something else to think about. Those trans-reflective screens are GORGEOUS, though, and most of the newer laptops have them.

I bought a Gateway MX6455 from Best Buy over the summer just for the sole purpose of handling all my photos. I got 1G of ram and a decent amount of memory. I got the 15.4 inch screen and it is very compact.
I paid $999 for it and it's been great. I have PSE4 and it runs great on my laptop.

My family does a lot of RVing during the summer so I like that it is portable and WIFI ready.

Good luck in your purchase.

Ive got a gateway MX7526 which I got earlier this year and I love it! I run an external hard drive of course, but I love the processor and its got a good graphics card etc, card readers, etc. Mine came with 1 gig of ram (which I havent expanded on any yet), and I love the screen, its beautiful! def better than any monitor Ive ever owned.

I had a problem a few months ago that DVDs werent burning. I contacted gateway and they sent me a new drive super fast, no questions asked, no problem. This is my second gateway and never been disappointed with them.

I don't even own a desktop anymore... just 2 laptops. Both are Toshibas and I owned 2 other Toshibas before these. I swear by Toshiba laptops and many computer folks say they are the gold standard in laptops. I have 1G of RAM and I run Photoshop CS2 just fine, and can also have IE and MS Word open at the same time. I know this because I've had all these open when working on the 12 days of Christmas game! LOL!! My hard drive is 100GB. Of course, I wish I had more (who doesn't?), but I have an external network drive so I'm really OK in that area.

Good luck with your shopping. :)

I have a dual core & it's the newest technology - so it should help. I'm very happy with my Toshiba satellite.

My sister made list of things to consider when buying a new computer - and it's here at new website - www.digiscrapinfo.com.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 with a 19 inch screen and dual core technology. It has a dual layer DVD burner (can't ever have enough storage), 2G of Ram, 180 G hard drive. External Hard Drive space is cheap - I actually have a portable 100G model that I store all of my scrapbook supplies on (doesnt need external power).

I run PSCS2, a wacom tablet and ADCSee to view my pix. I am a Dell girl - never had a problem and it has been very reliable for me.

If you travel a lot, the Lenovo (formerly known as IBM) thinkpads are great. It's VERY light, plus, the newest version has a 15" screen which is a decent size for working on layouts while still being small enough to be portable. I've been extremely happy with mine. HTH.

Stacie :)
