I've been intrigued by these new digital photo frames. I noticed them for the first time, I think, on Target.com...let me see if I can find a link. Oh, yes, you can see them here. A bit expensive...not in my budget right now, but I do like them.

Anyway, look at what I found today...Popular Science has a way of making your own with an old laptop:

Anyone up for it? :)

That is too neat! Unfortunately the only laptop I have pretty much belongs in a museum (it's seriously that old, lol).

To have a friend is to have a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold and an extra pair of legs when yours are too weak to stand alone...

I have been living buried in books and writing classes... as an added note I must say that it is rather scary when you start dreaming and all you can see within your dreams is words floating everywhere!

I'll let you know when I am finished with it, Mandy...LOL...

I was curious about something though...wonder if anyone here would know. Can you download something off of your computer (such as a LO) onto a memory card, like used in a digital camera? I know most of these digital frames work by inserting a memory card into it, after you take pics on your camera. I wonder....

Oh, wait, I found a digital photo frame with a usb host on thinkgeek.com! So, with that, you could download digital scrapbook layouts onto a thumbdrive, stick it into the frame and have your LO's play. ooooh, how cool. I want one. :i-love-it:

My brother gave me one for Christmas. He got it at Amazon's electronics expo. It will take a usb flash drive or any memory card. AND you can plug the frame with the card into the computer by usb so that you don't need a card reader to get stuff onto the memory card. I plugged it in and took photos from my pictures folder and put them on a memory card. Mine plays videos, too. I don't think you'd have any trouble with the LO's.
I love mine, too!!

My mom had an old laptop... has a bad power supply. I'm sure my chip designer dh could whip that up in a flash. Don't think he wants to fix the power supply issue though... I'm sure my Dad would give me the computer. Think I'd rather have the one that comes all nice and neat in a box from the store.

Are those frames the kind that make like a digital slide show? I saw some around half that price at Sam's. ;)

(honestly, I don't work for Sam's - I just seem to keep finding stuff there....)

This idea is great, and something I have been needing for our new store venture. We are getting ready to move our business from home to a storefront on Main street and one of the services we will offer is a "snap and scrap" service for busy parents. I was wondering how I could showcase the sample digital LO's. This will work great.
