Guest khairiya
hi everyone, my name is sharon and i am very new to scrapbooking, my niece does it and i thought id give it a shot since i love decorating and being creative. i am a TLC junkie, love all the home decorating shows. i seen some realy nice scrpbooking at creative concepts, things to make and hang up, i would love to do that. i need advice as far as what do i buy to start scrapbooking. i know i can use buttons, and fabrics, im guessing i will need a glue gun and of course pictures inwhich i have many of those. any help would be so much appreciated. sharon
Guest Jadedolphin
My advice as a relative newbie is don't buy everything you see!! You'll need basic tools such as:- 1)A good pair of scissors; 2)a couple of craft knives and lots of blades; 3)doublesided tape; glue stick or dots or pen or all of them; 4)steel ruler; 5)a trimmer; 6) cutting mat; 7) a computer for digital LO's and printables 8)cardstock and paperstock for tradiotional LO's 9)some embellishments/elements - fibres, buttons, flowers, twill, ribbons etc 10)MM's or other favourite chocs! 11)babywipes to keep hands clean! 12)work area 13) plenty of light 14)comfortable & supporting chair! If you fancy things like sizzix machines etc look around your local area and see if there's a place that will let you try them out or go to a crop and try them as they are pricey - you might not use them as much as you think you will! Then again you may use them all the time! Collect anything you would normally throw out!! Like buttons from old clothes,. labels too, old jumpers/sweaters - unravell the wool and you have a nice effect on the wool! By the way Hi there!! Betsy
Hi! Welcome! You probably won't want to try all the fabrics and stuff right away - get started with the cheaper stuff, cardstock and patterned papers. And glue gun will probably make a big mess - try glue dots, a tape runner or double sided tape. WELCOME!
