Do We Have Any Published, Softcover Scrapping Books?

Recommended Posts

I'm going on several trips this summer, and all will be without computer access. I'd like to take along a digi scrapping book I can browse for inspiration. I guess my addiction is just *too* severe. I can't leave digi-scrapping totally alone -- not even for a week!

I have a few ideas of what I'm looking for. I'd like either:

-A basic photography guide that has tons and tons of color photos with information on how they took them (I'm thinking it could be a like Dinny's e-book, but obviously not "e." Trying to print everything in color would be pretty expensive.)

-OR a similar book with tons of LO pics I could scraplift. It would be great if it had simple directions on how a specific style was achieved.

I found this website: http://www.ideabooks4u.com/ ...Anybody know if their books are any good?

Anybody have any suggestions?

Basic photography books hmm.

I haven't read this one, but it looks simple and straight forward. The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Photography-...5311&sr=1-1

I have Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera by Bryan Peterson, and he has some excersizes that you can practice with your camera. It might be more invovled then what you would want to take on a vacation trip.

What kind of camera do you have?

My sister is in a photography school right now and highly recommends Scott Kelby. He has one coming out for PS CS3. She's a graphic designer and does a lot with PS and she just learned a new technique from his book that she loves. (She used it for post processing a pic she did of me and my husband.)

I saw a few pages in the book she was talking about and it's beautifully done, soft cover, and easy to understand.

Scott Kelby's books are wonderful! I really like the Simple Scrapbook digital mags myself. I know there are afew other digi books coming out but can't remember where from at the moment. I will post back when I remember.

I have bought books from ideabooks4u.com and they are gorgeous, well presented books with heaps and heaps of layouts and information on scrapbooking design. The problem is in deciding which ones. Also note that unless the book is specifically for digital scrapbooking (of which there are a couple focusing on the beginner) then they are all geared towards the paper scrapper. That being said the design principles esposed are generally the same for digi as for paper and you can still get some great inspiration. I have a couple and I just love browsing through them.

I also highly recommend the Scott Kelby books on both photography and on Photoshop (I have his book on PSE5 and it is a great resource).

I know JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts sells a lot of the Creating Keepsakes scrapbooking books. Most of them are geared toward paper scrapping, but you can still use them for inspiration. :)

I'm sorry, I don't have any suggestions, but I will be away from my computer for 10 days when we take our kids on vacation so I'm taking notes on what everyone is suggesting. Thanks for starting the thread!

The Autumn Leaves "Designing with . . . " books are very good. And fun to read. Lots of pictures. I think they have one specifically about photos.
