Are There Layer Masks In Pse5?

Just curious - are there layer masks in PSE5? I can't find them. Even checked the PSE help (which isn't a whole lot of help!). It defines layer masks but never tells where the button is or how to use them!

Mindy,

I don't believe there is actually one. But I know there is a free tool out there that give you one-click layer masks...it's available at:

If you do this, make sure you download the PSE5 version.

There is a way to use adjustment layers to give you a "fake" mask...but I am not totally sure on how to do that since I don't use PSE5. Maybe someone else will chime in who knows.

There are not, though as Brandie said, you can download tools that will give you layer masks. You can also use an adjustment layer as a layer mask. On your layer palette, click on the icon that is a half black/half white circle between the new layer icon and the garbage can icon. I usually choose a brightness/contrast or hue/saturation and then just hit ok without changing any of the settings. Then paint with black and white as you normally would with a layer mask.
