In Topic: Scanning Slides

I use the Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner. I have scanned literally hundreds of slides, photos and old scrapbooks, even some newsprint. The slides turned out great but I did have to work with them in Photoshop because they had turned red with age. But once "fixed up" they looked great. This Epson comes with a tray which allows you to scan more than one size of slide, as well as negatives. I use this scanner a great deal. The only problem I had was this: we had a couple of severe power outages and my scanner was fried because I didn't plug it directly into my UPS backup power supply - point to remember for all the computer peripherals
Hope this has helped.

I, too, use a year/month/date/subject system of filing my photos (2013-02-16-baby's first birthday). A few years ago I scanned all our photos/slides from the time my father was a baby (OMG what a chore). Now everything is on my EHD and backed up to BackBlaze. Since I do a yearly journal, I can find every picture I need and they're in chronological order. This saves me so much time and frustration! The initial process took me many months. However, I don't delete many pictures - some pictures which aren't the best quality can be used as a background, B/W or in some other capacity. -

I have the Canon Pro9000 Mark II and love it. It prints great pictures and layout pages in top quality. There are 8 print cartridges and the cost is around $22 Cdn for each replacement. This is a wide printer (13"). The only thing I found is that the first page prints slowly but each page thereafter is faster. I am biased towards Canon as that is all I'll buy, partly because of the variety of cartridges, but mainly because I really like the quality of print. I used to print out all my layouts to insert into a binder and the quality was always top notch. I give this printer my 5 star endorsement. -

April, thank you for responding. I've had this action since 2007 and never seemed to use it - not anymore. It will be one of my favorite action in the future.
