I Found My Thrill

14 January 2010 - 11:34 AM

Finding PSE and digital image editing opened the window on a whole new world for me. One of the biggest charges I've gotten over the last year and a half has been working on really old photos and restoring them -- sharpening, clarifying colors, fixing fade, etc. It's so incredibly satisfying, and I find myself wondering about these people as I get up close and personal with their photographs.

I just finished working on one that has me so excited I have to share. The face had lots of scratches and worn spots, and I wasn't sure how much I could do. I was surprised and thrilled with how well it turned out -- so I wanted to show the before and afters. I left the scratches on the clothing pretty much as they were, though; I didn't want to remove all signs of the age and history.

Suggestion For Music For A Slideshow

03 January 2010 - 11:19 AM

I'm making a slideshow of our family's pictures (just for fun, just for our immediate family) and would love to set it to some fun, lively music. This isn't my forte, exactly, and all I can come up with is "Happy Together" by the Turtles. Anybody else have some suggestions?

What Goodies Did You Pick Up With The Sale?

30 August 2009 - 11:57 AM

It's always fun to see what everyone bought when a sale comes around (and always gives me ideas for the next one!) so let's hear about some of your goodies this time around.

I've been wanting to play with Jan's Through The Viewfinder frames, so I grabbed them. I fell in love with Amanda's Prairieland Collection and Prairieland photo masks (and they're even more gorgeous now that I've downloaded them and seen them "up close". I also dropped in Syndee's Hand-Tinted photo action after reading the recent tutorial in the newsletter (LOVE those tutorials).

So, what's in your bag?

Fading Font Overlay?

27 July 2009 - 09:20 PM

I have this idea for an overlay on a layout where there would be type down one side and it would fade away towards the end of the line. I think the type layer would have to be simplified and then maybe a gradient applied?? I guess I could erase the side I want to fade, but I want it to be consistent all down the page. Does this make sense? I saw something like this on a tee shirt and I think it would look really cool but I am not sure how to go about getting the effect. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Painted Cardboard Alpha Template

21 July 2009 - 04:54 PM

I love the cardboard alpha from Syndee's "Noteworthy" collection. I would love to have a template for this alpha; I could use it in so many ways. Is there one, or any possibility of talking our SG fairy godmothers into one? :)
