In Topic: Help With Layout

Hi Terri!

I like what you're doing with this! The colors you've chosen work well with your photos. Concerning the "baskets are lovely" text, why don't you try a more decorative font? I also like to layer the text on top of itself to add depth. In this case, you might try putting a copy in a darker color under the gray and a little offset (try to match the angle of your shadows). That might make it stand out from the picture better. Regarding the 2015, try putting it on the other page in the empty black triangle. It will create a nice visual triangle with the gray for the text, date, and table decor. As long as you keep it a neutral gray and the simple font you have, it shouldn't be overwhelming.

HTH! Keep asking questions. You're doing a great job!

I just reread the hastag requirements for posting and it says "Post your layout on any social media channel (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc) or our Forum marked with the special #hashtag of the month to be entered to win our monthly prize!" I could not fine anything about #scrapgirls. I think I read somewhere that #scrapgirls was not for us regulars scrappers. i sure hope this is correct. I don't do public social media posting at all. That requirement would let me out of the challenge for sure.

Jody was referring to TEAM layouts. Members only need to use the #sgdigilove hashtag to qualify. If you want to include #scrapgirls, by all means go ahead. We'd love the publicity, but it's not required. It's also not required for members to post to social media if you don't have an account. The gallery is sufficient. HTH

Ladies, I've overcommitted this month....  When I started the Slow Scrap for Feb, I assumed that I could use that for the Challenge Chase.  So, I'm sorry I'm going to have to bail out of this one. :sorry:

Eden, April will correct if I'm wrong, but I think you can use it for both?  It's only that you can't use the same layout for Hashtag AND a Challenge Chase point.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that Eden is right. Here's the part of the post I read:

To qualify, you have to participate in at least one challenge every week for the month.

Each week, you may choose to participate in either the Weekly Newsletter Challenge (posted on Tuesdays) or the Weekend Wildcard Challenge (posted on Saturdays). It doesn’t matter if you pick the Weekly or Weekend Challenge (or switch back and forth) as long as you post at least one challenge layout in each calendar week of the month. Partial weeks of less than three days don’t count as a full week.

In Topic: Snu Templates-How Do You Use Pngs?

These are some of the older templates that didn't come as psd files. I'm not sure about your comfort level with PSE, but here's the short versions of what I do with these. If you need more detail, just left me know.

You have a couple of options.

  • You can draw a bunch of circles and rectangles behind each hole in the template (one per layer) and then clip your pictures/papers to them.
  • The other option is to use the magic wand tool or the marquee tool to select each hole, then select the photo/paper and apply a layer mask.
