  1. Ha... indeed, it WAS the talk of our youth tour community. There are 43 of us "Youth Tour Directors" within my industry who take kids from our respective states to DC during the same week each summer. The directors are a close group, and they all caught wind of the surprise proposal before we even returned to the hotel (courtesy of Facebook posts... ha). It was so much fun to share this fun news with a group I work so closely with. Then, to add the cherry to the top, our industry's magazine editor included the story of our engagement in our national publication. What a hoot! We had well-wishes coming in from all over our nation. Yup... my hubby did a very good job, and he still beams with pride when we talk about it. I had told him when I posted this layout to this gallery, and last night he was reading all of the comments. He was very proud of himself and tickeled with all of the very kind words that everyone has left. Thank you all!
  2. Thanks... it was a lot of fun putting them together. I'm just so glad that so many of my kiddos were on the ball with their cameras. It was great getting all of their photos sent to me that week... I knew I had to do a "perspective" page. It was just too fun!
  3. Thanks, Elly!

  4. Love your proposal page!!!

  5. Thank you so much! I never in a million years thought I'd get engaged while wearing a bright orange, tie-dye shirt! Ha! Those shirts work great to keep an eye on all the students while we're spread out around the memorials. My hubby said that our shirts made us very easy to spot! Ha!
  6. I'm a very difficult person to surprise, but my hubby pulled off a huge surprise when he flew unexpectedly to Washington, DC, to propose to me. I was on my annual youth tour and was chaperoning 36 teens on a tour of the memorials. My hubby appeared on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and asked for my hand. Our students cheered and began snapping photos. I was delighted to get so many of the photos taken at that time. However, I truly wanted the story... both his version of events, and mine... to take center stage in this layout. I used Graphic Authority's "Family Portrait" collection for the paper, distressed frame and embellishements. However, my favorite embellishment was the airline napkin that my hubby used to jot down notes of what he wanted to say as he proposed. What a fabulous surprise this was!
