Topics I've Started

  1. Google Search Brings Up Scrapbook Layouts

    15 May 2013 - 10:08 PM

I was reading some articles about safety on the internet and I did a Google Search for my name and clicked on "images"...to my surprise I found some of my scrapbook layouts from the Scrapgirls gallery displayed there. Not such a big deal in some respects except that I don't really want my journaling to be "out there" visible to whoever...

I have been putting the copyright symbol and my name in the gallery post as someone mentioned to take credit for it. Maybe I shouldn't do that anymore? Can I remove them from the ones already posted in the gallery?

What are your thoughts on this topic?

thanks for any insight you can offer....Amy
  2. Color Swatch On Buttermilk Road

    04 February 2013 - 07:04 PM

Which download file was the color swatch in? I must have overlooked it when I downloaded it.
  3. Can Actions Be Used On More Than One Computer?

    17 January 2013 - 02:03 PM

Maybe I'm doing something illegal here, please let me know.

I bought the color swatch action and installed it on my desktop awhile back Photoshop Elements 7. I just now realized I never put it on my laptop (was trying to do the Jumpstart January color swatch and couldn't find that action) so I was going to try to install it on my laptop (same Photoshop Elements 7).

I copied the files from the desktop and put them into dropbox so I could access them on my laptop. When I tried to put them on my laptop it didn't work...tried to rebuild the database like it suggests but now the program won't even open up. Looking at the files I copied over I now see a padlock on all of the icons I brought over. Thinking I did something wrong I deleted the files from the laptop, emptied the recycle bin, and tried to reopen PSE...it starts to open, then a window pops up that says it's stopped working. I tried to rebuild the database again, and the program will come on like it's rebuilding, but then when it's almost complete it stops working again.

so I guess my questions are
1)can I use the actions on more than one computer?
2)why won't my PSE7 open if I tried to get everything back to how it was before I even tried to copy these actions?
  4. How To Find Old Newsletter Topic

    17 January 2013 - 11:04 AM

I am looking for the newsletter that had "Using a Brush as a Clipping Mask" by Amy Flanagan. I had copied and pasted it into a word document for my own reference later, but didn't copy down the link, and now I need to reference it from its original newsletter.

In other words, how do you search for old newsletter topics?
  5. Add Layer Mask In Pse 7

    15 January 2013 - 08:17 PM

I'm trying to follow the instructions in these two tutorials to learn more about layer masks Non-Destructive Use of Brushes with a Layer Mask and Layer Masks - A Quick Way to Trim Papers but both show how to do it in Photoshop CS2 or CS6 and I can't figure out how to transfer the into to PSE7.

Specifically it says to click on the "Add Layer Mask" icon at the bottom of the Layers Palette. I don't see that as an option in PSE7. I can create an adjustment layer with different options, but nothing says "layer mask"

can anyone help? I'm trying to use this for Jumpstart January, but am falling behind because I'm stuck on this step.

Thanks for the comments on my layout. I agree, taking time to reflect is something we don't tend to do very often and yet it is a precious gift we can give ourselves.

Thanks for your nice comment about my layout! Seeing it in the newsletter was a really happy surprise! None of my family could understand why I was so excited. They don't "get" scrapbooking, LOL.
