Topics I've Started

  1. Wide Format Scanner

    12 May 2013 - 06:50 PM

I'm considering getting a wide format scanner. I don't have a great need to print wide format but find myself most often scanning my artwork and reducing it to card size (mostly around 10x14 to begin with). Stitching/erasing etc. in Photoshop gets a little old! I was thinking about the Epson WorkForce 7510. My Epson Stylus 7400 has been a good printer. I don't want to give up good printing for the ability to scan. I hear not-so-great things about Canon. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!
  2. Spy Stuff?

    14 February 2013 - 03:51 PM

I was going to make my nephew a birthday card this weekend and wanted to do it in a spy/secret agent/detective theme - ala James Bond, but also the tools of the trade - magnifying glass etc. Couldn't find anything in the boutique so I thought I'd mention it as something one of the designers might want to think about. Could be a cute kid theme and more.
  3. Sg Watermark?

    28 January 2013 - 10:58 AM

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this but since it deals with boutique items, I stuck it here. I have a flower brush entitled Grow, that I really like. It isn't labeled in typical SG convention, just Grow. But I do have a PNG sheet that is labeled KSZ. Here's the strange thing - I filled a page with random images from this brush set and when i printed it, I noticed a faint SG watermark behind each one, in the color i used for that flower. I have used this mostly as an eraser brush in the past so never noticed it before. I'm kind of miffed as this was for a card and won't do to have the watermark on there. Anyone know what the deal might be? I'm hoping it's just an older one and not something I have to worry about for any other projects. Weird, huh?
  4. A "pet" Peeve

    05 January 2013 - 05:10 PM

So . . . we were thinking about adopting a Boston puppy but decided it might be too risky with his little sharp paws and Gyver's bad eyes. So instead we adopted a 2 yr old Chi mix. Really a sweet dog. They did great at the "meet & greet." Gyver was relaxed and interested, the other dog seemed calm and compatible.

I brought the new boy (aka Radar) home last Friday. When I picked him up, the foster mom was all teary. Guess she'd gotten attached to him. Reminded me he was still working on not marking, and to "watch his mouth." Other than him puking all over me on the way home, he did fine - LOL! Did the recommended re-intro outside, and brought him in first. Within 20 minutes of him being there, he was settled calmly in the hallway and then !!! Gyver got "in his space" I guess and more or less, without warning, Radar just lunged at him. He snapped again later that night and has done so once or twice since.

I am so frustrated. He is the sweetest dog and I am already attached to him. He is a quick learner and eager to please. No housetraining issues or destructive tendencies. But why did no one mention he has "other dog" issues? (Oh she did later via text when I told her, that he did that to her Mastiff!). And apparently he has some fear around kids too. I want to believe the best about her, I know emotions get involved. But really . . . they could have sought a "single dog household" for this little guy and he would probably do fine. For now he is on a (literal) short leash in the house, either attached to me or tethered to the chair in my office. He doesn't seem to be intentionally seeking out MacGyver, I'm just leery of letting them get close now. I signed up for a "Feisty Fido" class with the local kennel club, and they said they'd help me evaluate him. I really hope this is just a fear thing and that eventually they can co-exist. I don't mind crating him when I'm gone but constantly supervising 2 dogs is going to get old for everyone and not the optimal situation.

Oh well . . . just a vent. it's been a very long week, with me being sick over New Year's and adjusting to the new guy. Thanks for listening!

  5. Artwork

    17 December 2012 - 10:41 PM

Attached is a picture of something i made for my sister for Christmas. It is their family's hands, outlined and doodled onto newsprint (that has been mod-podged first). My intention was to incorporate the word family somehow but obviously that's not going to happen on the artwork. Maybe a separate project. Anyways, just thought I'd share. It took me longer than I expected, but it was a fun and relaxing project (and I prayed over each person as I doodled their hands). Hope it doesn't go down as one of those horrendous gifts - haha! They just finished an addition with a huge new kitchen, yellow walls so hopefully it will look good in there.

Thank you, for your help with my blog. It is now sorted and links now work. I got in touch with the framework creators and it turns out I had a dodgy plugin.

How do you get all your fonts to show up in the viewer? Watched the video, but it didn't say how to load them.

Thanks for passing it along. And what a small world! lol! I had no idea you had lived in this area. I have been with LCPL for 20 years now, but at the Hobart Township branches. I hope all is going well for you. I have you in my prayers daily.
