Scrapping Sandy
02 November 2012 - 02:43 PM
I am thinking about the pages I'm going to make about our experience in Hurricane Sandy and afterwards. Part of what I want to include is the newspaper headlines/front pages. So I've been collecting them, with the intention of scanning them (once we get our power back.)
My question is --- has anybody done this? How much can you reduce them and they still look like a newspaper front page? Any tips about the best way to treat them?
There's not much text -- I'm not expecting to be able to read any articles -- just screaming headlines and scary pictures.
I'm a total newbie to digital scrapbooking, so I'm sorry if this is obvious, just would like to get it right!
Oh -- and don't feel I'm ignoring you if I don't respond. Right now I can only occasionally get to places with internet access and electricity at the same time!

I Printed My Christmas Cards
27 October 2012 - 09:15 PM
I made my own Christmas cards this year, using a design I did for the September forum game. I sent then to Costco to be printed and got them delivered today.
I have to say I am THRILLED with how they turned out!
Costco did a great job printing them, and they were no more expensive than buying nice cards at the stationery store. Even printed my return address on the envelopes for free!
I could only wish that they had a design that let me use the whole panel for the inside top picture (the card opens from the bottom, i.e. it's wider than it is tall... does that make sense?)
But I am more than satisfied with what I ended up with.
Just so excited I wanted to share! -
Pay For Monthly Club With Paypal
08 October 2012 - 10:17 AM
I'd like to subscribe to the monthly club, but I want to use PayPal, not a credit card...for several reasons, not the least of which has been highlighted with the recent security breach of credit card numbers (which can happen anywhere!)
I'm willing to pay ahead for the six month plan, but I don't see any options for using PayPal for this.
Is there any way I can arrange this? I'd take the responsibility of renewing (buying a new 6 months) when it's time. -
Personal Conversation In Forums
06 October 2012 - 01:03 PM
I am feeling rude -- because a couple people have sent me messages and I can't figure out how to respond!
I will get a notification: XYZ started a new personal conversation with you
Then I click on it and see a message.
But how do I reply?
I tried clicking on Compose, entering the person (XYZ) into the To field, and typing a message.
When I send it I get : The member XYZ cannot receive any new messages
I can't figure out where I'm supposed to just REPLY to a message! -
Introducing Myself
05 October 2012 - 04:36 PM
Hi, everyone!
Since I'm trying to get out of the basement in number of posts for this month's forum game, I figure it's a good time to introduce myself.
My name is Terri and I live in New Jersey.
I am spending a few weeks at home, since I had a total knee replacement on September 10. Theoretically I have some time to follow up on the forum, not to mention actually doing some scrapbook pages, but it turns out that all the exercises the physical therapist gives me to do take up a substantial part of the day. I should have remembered that from three years ago when I had the other knee done.
I discovered digital scrapbooking this summer. I always make a photobook whenever we have a "big" vacation (and even some not-so-big) but I was looking for a way to make this year's book, from our Alaska cruise, more interesting. Digital scrapbooking lets me be creative even within the confines of my limited artistic abilities. I'm having a great time with it. I worked in Information Systems for 25 years, so the technology hook is a natural for me.
Now I work as a lay minister (pastoral associate) in a large suburban church. I love my job! I also love biking -- we've done several multi-day bike tours--, geocaching, reading and cross stitch. (Note the absence of "housework" in that list.) I've been married 36 years, and DH is getting ready to retire in 8 months....not that we're counting. I imagine life will change some when that happens. Maybe we'll be able to visit my daughter and her husband in California more often.
I'm looking forward to hearing more from you all and to learning from looking at your beautiful work in the gallery.
