Overwhelmed

Hi! I'm new to digital scrapping. I've only created the one facebook cover and I'm now stuck. I have thousands of photos that I'd like to scrap but I absolutely don't know where to start. I'm surprised to see so many layouts with only one photo on it. I don't have a clue where to start. Any suggestions?
Also...another question...
How can I be sure that elements are their "real life" size. I would hate to print out a layout only to have the staples and buttons too big to look realistic. Is there a tip on how to keep these life like? I'm using Photoshop CS4 and just learning the program too.
Thanks for any advice you can give me! -
New Here From So Calif

Hi!
I'm a 56 year old mom of four kids and three grandkids. I'm engaged to the love of my life and hope to scrap quite a few family pages.
I tried digi-scrapping about 8 years ago (one page) but then my computer crashed. I now have a new (used) macbook and want to give digital scrapping a try again.
I downloaded a facebook cover template freebie online and bought a motorcycle kit off another site. I created my first project last night (I'm learning Photoshop CS4). I watched a few youtube videos to figure things out.
I was wondering if I can post my first creation here in the gallery or does it need to be made of Scrap Girls products only? Also does it need to be resized and saved a certain way before I can post it?
Anyone else create a facebook cover? I'd love to see them.
Learning my way around the site...think I found my favorite scrapbook site now!
Thanks!
Debi
