  1. Very nice scrap! I like the sentiments expressed and you use pink which is the colour of love. It's interesting that through introspection you've widened your scope of attention. Hope you know what I mean! Sending hugz.
  2. Thanks, folks! That was a rush to get it all done in an hour, and I've only got this month's Scrap Simple set LOL I could have done the journaling paper a lot better but my DH was calling for his dinner at the time. Actually he was moaning in his best tradition something about a camel in a desert passing out from lack of tea. All he gets out of me is that camels don't drink tea.
  3. Brilliant LO, Laura! I love the whodunnits as well. My parents used to own a hotel when they were in business and we kids had a great time at Christmas because my dad used to put on a murder mystery game which went on over the three days. Needless to say, his clues were so obscure that rarely did a guest manage to actually work it out but then they were also a bit merry most of the time LOL On the odd occasion that a guest did win, dad was most put out because then he had to give up one of his best wines. If you've ever tried to get a favorite toy off a baby, you'll understand!
  4. Very nice LO Ashley! Like the photo as well. The black and white genre really does have something to offer. It seems, in some ways, to provide more depth and feeling than colour. I don't know why but it's that classic look that makes for a good deal in fashion photography as well.
  5. That's a very nice LO, Leigh Ann! Yes, Shabby Princess are great, I wish I could design like that, it's a certain style that is pleasing on the eye. What fab pics you've taken, too. We do get some interesting insects and lizards around here but they refuse to stay still for long! There are bee flies with very long red probosis which whirl in the air like humming birds, I love those but they are only in a difficult place to get to, halfway down a cliff on the southern coast of our island. Then the little green lizards are very shy unlike your chap there so it's nigh on impossible to get a good shot and they move off at about 90 mph. I need a close up lens that's quite powerful, I think, then I'd get them.
  6. LOL Apologies to Betsy & other scrapgirls, my computer dropped out of the net so thank you for the challenge! Anyways, here it is, one hour only. I used Scrap Simple Art Deco paper and brushes from Amanda McGee and the rest is my own stuff. Journaling reads - My favorite and well loved store is MacCulloch & Wallis in Mayfair, West London. They stock the most amazing dress trimmings, materials, haberdashery, linings and sewing equipment which is essential for my line of work. I've visited only four times because they have a good online service, but their premises are magical. The store looks much the same as it would have done when it was an old fashioned tailor's premises. All the goods are lined up in wooden boxes and display units with beautiful and spacious cutting tables made of seasoned wood. They supply traditional products to designers and dressmakers alike, as well as adding new items sourced worldwide. I couldn't do without them!

    sewing 101

Gosh, I do like the way your scrap is set out, with the penciled frame and aged papers, that looks original to me. I'm glad your DD is learning to sew, it's becoming a lost art and you can make a career out of it in a number of fields. She's doing very well with the design!
  8. Thanks very much for the encouragement, folks!
  9. Very lovely piece of work! The raven does make the piece but also the last rays of the sun within the cloud cover is also wonderful.
  10. The quote is from one of their sacred texts and describes how the Preceptors looked across the ocean and decided to create a jewel to reflect the beauty of the sea and sky. Thus Bali was born. May you all get the chance to visit at least once in your lifetime! I used the tube of the lady from Suzi Sgai (copyright free) and a texturized background from Ivy. The rest of the stuff is mine own LOL (PSP9) Hugz

    Gothic Wedding Gown

Thanks very much for your kind compliments, folks! Yes, the dress turned out beautifully. I wish I could show you the depth of colour on it. The red silk really shines and has a degree of texture to it, as in all dupions. The lace is a rich gold and is quite thick and three dimensional. As I said, the design is still popular. As to the scrap (LOL) I took the colours from the photograph. Hugz

    Gothic Wedding Gown

This is a gown I made for a gothic wedding created in 2004 but the designer is still producing this one, it's popular! Another variation was done in gold silk and grape lace which sounds a strange combination but turned out really nice. The paperclip is from http://www.dozibaer.com/SiteMap/sitemap.htm (scrapbooking embellishments for psp only). The other papers and ribbons are by me messing around on psp9 and pretending to be a designer. Hugz
  13. LOL I know the feeling well! It took me ages to work out how to upload the scrap to the gallery What a great photo! Not sure who is the cutest!
