In Topic: Project Life 2014

Maybe if I join a group like this I will get back on track. I've done this kind of project for 2010, 2011, and 2012 but in 2013 I not only failed to do this project anymore, I only scrapped about 5 pages the whole year!  :(  I guess I got busier. For one thing, I've really been focusing on my photography.

But I really missed scrapbooking, so as the new year was approaching I told myself I was going to set aside just two hours every weekend to scrap. Seems so simple, right? Well, I still haven't scrapped anything yet this year -- except my new siggy, which I created before posting this because the previous one was the one I made for the superhero week last year (how long ago was that?).

So bug me you guys, and help me get back into my old weekly layout routine.  :)

In Topic: I'm A Discouraged Photographer!

I've attended three local photography clubs, and continue to be pretty active in one of them, and all have been very friendly and encouraging, even during critique sessions. In fact, there have been times I wished to get MORE critique because it's so helpful to growth. Of course it has to be constructive (not what your groups sound like).

When you're ready to look for a new group perhaps try Meetup.com, which is where I found two of my local photography clubs.

In Topic: Online Backup Services

I researched the choices a few years ago and decided to go with Backblaze. I've been happy with them ever since. I've had to restore some files with them and it was easy. Backing up initially takes a long time, but it didn't interfere with the use of my computer and it continues to work so quietly in the background I forget it's there until I come across one of these threads. Then I check to see that it's still running. :)

I also use Smugmug as a backup. It's for sharing and selling photographs but you can upload an unlimited amount of full resolution images so it's great for backing up too. I like having my photos and scrapbook pages backed up in multiple places (I also have two EHDs) for added insurance. Also, I like having both automatic backup -- Backblaze -- and manual back up -- Smugmug -- so if I miss something, Backblaze will catch it, while I have the assurance that things are being backed up because I'm doing it myself as well. It's part of my picture-processing and scrapbooking routines: at the end, I upload them to Smugmug.

I can't remember if my site is in my siggy, so here's the link, if you'd like to check out what a Smugmug site can look like. What you won't see is that I have zillions of unlisted galleries where I upload ALL of my pictures, so they're backed up but not shared with the world. I do let my mom see them though. :)

Good luck with your choice!

Hi Barb,
You don't have to resize your pictures. When you drag them into your scrapbook layout, it will make them 300dpi like the paper. :)

I also learn so much from reading the comments on other peoples layouts. Don't you?

Yes, I have! Another great thing about them!
