Hey Jeanne,

Following the path - they list the folders you need to go to in a specific order. I found the obvious area to place the styles is not where you are to place them, lol. Regarding the MediaDatabase file - If you don't rebuild it, your app will not see the Actions, Styles too.

The Mediadatabase.db3 is located at Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Locale\ en-US

STYLES -

Macintosh HD\Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Locale\en-US\Photo Creations\Layer Styles

ACTIONS -

Place the action and png file in this folder:

MACINTOSH HD\Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Photo Creations\Photo Effects

HTH :)

Yes keep the extension. To save the layered file - I usually save as a Photoshop file, with layers, the extension will be .psd

Is it just this one file or is it all layered/Photoshop files that are doing this?

go ahead and do this part, too-
If you are double clicking - first find the file on your hard drive and select it (not open), go to the File>Get Info at top menu bar. In the "Open with" area change to PSE.

Are you double clicking the file or are you in PSE and go to File>Open and are getting the message?

Also, when saving are you keeping the .psd extension? That might confuse it too. HTH :)

Hello to whoever is reading this. I've had PSE6 for a couple of months now but haven't worked with it much due to pure frustration! For some reason when I save my projects as a 'psd' format then go back to open the file I get a message saying that "windows cannot open this file." When I used PSE5 I didn't have this issue. Has anyone else had this problem? I have no problem saving it as a JPEG file, but that doesn't help me if I need to make changes to my project later. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. :thanks: in advance.

Sierra, I have both programs. If you can afford it, PSCS3 would be the better choice. You can easily load actions and styles. The pen tool is available, etc. Lots of additional toys in PSCS3.

I spent hours yesterday figuring out how to add actions to PSE6, grrrr. Still have not figured out styles.
