Map of my Childhood, right page

I chose to use this hybrid map screen shot to focus more closely on my childhood neighborhood, and remind myself of how green it was when I played there - and apparently, still is. The overhead view shows that our house has been expanded; what looks like a garage and breezeway were not part of the original, which was built in the housing rush just after WWII. Linden Circle didn't exist then - it was farmer Jake's pasture, separated by a wire fence from our backyard. Most of the wedge of trees between Manchester Road and Linden Circle are "new" in the last 50 years. Not detectable in the photo is a stream that ran at the base of the hill, under all the trees around the field - those were there when I was a child. We played in the stream, looking for frogs and tadpoles, and frequently seeing garter snakes. Wonderful patches of violets - purple, lavender, yellow & white - bloomed along the creek, and I made May baskets with them.

Oh, Jo how wonderful! I so enjoyed touring the town where you grew up and the aerial map is such a great idea to use as background! Your journaling is so interesting and I enjoyed reading it and I like the green border you used, too! Super page! :)

Such a fun layout. Great idea to use the aerial image --- now I'm going to Google earth and see what my old house looks like today!

Fantastic. I really enjoyed looking at these two pages and reading all about your childhood. I think I'm going to google my old house as well. TFS.
