The garden production is in full swing! On Sunday, 6/25, I picked some zucchini and started getting some green peppers. and some green tomatoes for some Green Tomato Pickle Relish. I harvested some more zucchini and mint on my day off on Wednesday, 6/28 and made Zucchini Sweet Pickles, some lemon zucchini bread, and bread from Grandma Ann’s cook book. Also, there was a guy selling peaches along State Route 161 so I got some for Chad. I had some extra time so I canned the peaches to eat later. It was a busy day off! This garden and “country cooking” takes almost all of my spare time these days, but I love it! Saturday night, 7/1, we had a date night. It was a bright sunshiny day when we went into the movie. Half of the way through, we were told to go to the front entrance of the Lori Theater in Highland due to a tornado warning. (Not sure why where, it was where all of the windows were!). It was very windy and pouring down rain outside. During the storm, we were told that the theater flooded so we would not be able to finish the movie. They handed out “rain checks” good for a ticket and snacks. That was cool of them to do. I wasn't into the movie that much anyway. We went to see Indiana Jones. After the storm died down, we went to the Farm supply store to look for some fence posts and then had dinner at Urban Farmhouse Eater & Pie Co. The storm did not keep us from having a great night.
