Glorie
I just finished Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. It was one of the best well written true story books that I've every read. ...The third time you share a cup of tea, you become family, and for our family, we are prepared to do any- thing, even die," he said, laying his hand warmly on Mortenson's own. "Doctor Greg, you must make time to share three cups of tea. We may be uneducated. But we are ..." WHEN Greg Mortenson, a six-foot-four night-nurse and mountaineer from Montana, first visited Pakistan in 1993 to climb K2, the world's second-highest peak, he failed in his mountain quest but ended up doing more to win hearts and minds in the region than any amount of official American propaganda. (a little blurb taken from Amazon.com) I had seen this book at Wal-Mart several months ago but just decided to pick it up a couple of weeks ago and am so glad I did. Greg Mortenson is from Minnesota and his parents were missionaries and traveled abroad as Greg was growing up. This book showed me how one person can get things done if he follows that LOVE in his heart which I truly believe is God. I was at the library picking up my next book and I mentioned I had just read "Three Cups of Tea" and she said that many book clubs were doing this book as of late. I highly recommend it!
