Scrap Girls Word Tour 2023

Welcome to the 2023 Scrap Girls World Tour!

Complete layouts to gain stamps in the passport. Each stamp is worth one entry in the prize draw. At the end of the tour, we will do a random draw, and you could win one of three $5 Gift Certificates to use in the Scrap Girls Design Shop.

Each time we stop at a new location we will give you some inspiration for you to create a layout. The inspiration will usually be in bold italics. You may also be given a task to complete. Check each day's itinerary to see what you need to do.

  • You are free to interpret each location’s inspiration in any way you wish.

  • There are no daily time limits, even if the post says today, tomorrow or any date.

  • Do not post your finished layout until we tell you to, just in case something un-expected happens. That should probably be "something un-expected WILL happen".

  • You do not have to complete a layout for every location, unless you wish to.

  • You can combine inspirations; however, you can only receive one stamp in the passport for each layout.

  • You have until 11:59pm (ET) on Saturday 30th September 2023 to post your layouts in the World Tour Gallery. Any layouts or tasks posted after this time will not earn a stamp on the passport.

Please be aware the passport will not be updated every day; I plan to update it at least once a week. I will post in the game thread when it has been updated. If you think you are missing a stamp, please feel free to send me (April Showers) a PM.

Friday, September 1st

Your task today is to sign in and pick your room. Remember this is a special vessel and can accommodate all requests. Get ready for a month-long trip around the world! My mother always told me September is usually nice just about anywhere in the world. Let’s hope she was right.

Count me in!

I'd like a stateroom large enough for parties, please. And I'd like a glass roof so I can see the stars at night.  Oh, and a built-in snack bar would be nice, too, with maybe a bartender/barista/smoothie maker on call for any kind of liquid refreshment. :)

I'll book just a small simple room as I hope to join you all somewhere on the trip but am not able to be there at the start.

I hope your Mom is right, April!
I'd like a room at the top with a good view and a balcony, preferably near the pool please.  😊

Of course,  Marilyn must have a pool.

Saturday, September 2nd

Before we head to our first destination, it's time for the Meet and Greet pool party. We have a few questions for our chit-chat day, feel free to ask your own.

  • What is your favorite vacation memory?
  • How many pairs of shoes do you pack and what styles?
  • If you could travel anywhere in the world (with no war or political upheaval), where would it be?
  • How many Scrap Girls World Tours have you been on? Did you have a favorite destination or mode of travel?

Before Henry retired from Andrag, we had a camper can permanently parken at Uilkraal. We just had to go down some wooden steps to reach the beach. We loved going there on weekends. My favourite holiday memories.

Shoes, sandals x 2. One pair for town and one pair for the beach.

My dream has always been New York.

I can only remember 2 World tours. My mind is going, I can't remember any destinations. :disappearing-smilie: If I do travel, I would fly, first class.

September 2

My favorite "vacation" memory is childhood summers at the (NJ) shore.   My parents, aunt and aunt/uncle bought a small house two doors from the bay at Sandy Hook.   We lived and played together all summer and grandparents, cousins, great-aunts, etc would come and stay, it was wonderful.   The shore and beach was beautiful and it was idyllic for kids.  Australia was my favorite trip, but meeting Jody and her family/friends was the real attraction.

Normally I have a pair of sneakers for walking and try to bring only one other pair of shoes since I want to carry as little as possible.   If it's summer I'll bring flip-flops, if winter maybe heavier shoes/boots.   I try to make the shoes work for multiple events so I don't have to bring more.

Well.....   I think I'd want to revisit Australia and see Darren and Jody's boys and spend more time touring different parts of the country.

I was here for the first SG World Tour and participated I think in all the rest even if I didn't have time for layouts.
I just did a search on the Forum and 2014 is the first World Tour I see mentioned, wow we're heading towards our 10th year!   I remember that Jody participated so knew it was long ago.  I can't remember any specific destinations, but Valerie had some fun cruise themes.  But, the havoc and fun ScrapGirls create on the trips together is always the best part of it all!   :spartying_100-137: :partytime2:  🛳️

I don't think I have a favourite holiday memory as I have many from all the places we have been. One of my favourites was going to Norway in December to stay with 'family' and it had snowed very heavily before we arrived. We had such blue skies and little wind but the snow and frost and icicles (i'd never seen anything like it before) were just amazing and we had such a lot of fun being together.

I try to pack light when I go away, I usually pack one pair of shoes/sandals (depending on weather) for walking and a nice pair of shoes /sandals for other times.

I have a bucket list to do but I really want to fly to NY and travel up the Maine coast in Autumn, then go into Canada to Quebec, down to Niagra Falls and back through Amish country to NY.

I love the World Tours and I think I have done them all but can't remember the destinations though.  Its the fun on the ship I remember and some of you are quite naughty (not me though😇)

I've been lucky enough to have traveled many places over the years and have way too many wonderful memories to be able to pick just one. One recurring favorite, however, is staying on the Jersey Shore for a few weeks at a time. We rent a condo and often have friends visiting and basically just enjoy the ocean.
I usually pack just a carry-on bag for flights, no matter how long the trip, so I wear a pair of sneakers and pack one other pair of shoes.
I'd love to see sights from the ancient world, like pyramids and parts of Greece and Turkey. Oh.. and I fantasize about going to the Galapagos Islands to see the turtles and to Easter Island to see the Rapa Nui statues. Back in reality, however, I'd love to go back to England. And stay a while.

I've been on all the World Tours, I believe, and loved them all. My favorites have been those ship voyages even if some of us (not naming names :D) haven't behaved very well. @Jane in N.Z I'm not sure about that halo!

First I will pick my cabin. I would like one in the stern with glass ceiling so I can look at sky during the day and stars at night. I also want a walk out deck that has a hot tub and bar.. I will have party ladies!!!:ssig_woohoo_100-101:

  • What is your favorite vacation memory?
  • Well, our first scuba diving to Bonaire was a favorite but I also loved our long trip to Canada in the boat in 2013.
  • How many pairs of shoes do you pack and what styles?
  • For this 4 month trip I have 3 pairs of flip flops, a pair of dressy sandals (never used) 2 pair of walking sandals, and cute little waterproof shoes (never used) so for next year I will adjust.
  • If you could travel anywhere in the world (with no war or political upheaval), where would it be?
  • Back to Germany to see how it changed since 70's.  I would also love to go to S. Africa to photograph the animals.
  • How many Scrap Girls World Tours have you been on? Did you have a favorite destination or mode of travel?
  • I think I went on all the WT's. I know that they are so much fun, looking forward to it. Of course I love the boat.

Seattle, Washington DSC_9331-crop.jpg

We are starting our tour in Seattle, Washington. Seattle is known as the “Emerald City” due to its many evergreens and abundant trees. Enjoy Pike Place Market with the iconic market sign, the gum wall, the original Starbucks cafe, well over 225 local artisans selling their wares, the famous fish-tossing tradition, and music-playing street performers, there are enough sights and sounds at Pike Place Market to pack a day.

Start a layout using GREEN as a dominant color.

I've always wanted to go to Seattle, I'm glad we're starting off here.    I'm off to breakfast and once the boat docks I'll be exploring the Market, anyone want to join me?   🛍️  I'll be poolside enjoying breakfast, anyone want to join me?  🏊‍♂️ 🥞

  • What is your favorite vacation memory? This is a hard one. There have been so many over the years. I have to choose two, one when I was a child and we went to Bishop, (in the Sierras) and spent a week camping. The other is more recent when we went to Vancouver Island and visisted the Buchart Gardens. That was a real treat.
  • How many pairs of shoes do you pack and what styles? I pack hiking or walking shoes and wear dressier shoes for everything else.
  • If you could travel anywhere in the world (with no war or political upheaval), where would it be? I would love to go to England and visit several of the castles where my ancestors came from.
  • How many Scrap Girls World Tours have you been on? Did you have a favorite destination or mode of travel? I have only been on one WT, 2015. Don't remember our modes of transport. I do get airsick though, so that is not fun!

I'll give it a go and join the tour!

Sept1: I would like my room to have windows on the east and west side so we can see the sunrise and sunset, and to have a beautiful cross breeze in the night when we sleep with the windows open.  We'd also like a walkout balcony to enjoy our morning coffee. Oh, and we'd like a coffee maker in our room too please.

Sept2:

What is your favorite vacation memory?

We took the girls to the Grand Canyon one year for Christmas. We took a sunrise bus tour - it was very cold but so beautiful to catch that first sunray on the canyon rim.

How many pairs of shoes do you pack and what styles?

I take two pairs - one is a pair of flip flops, the other a pair of flat black slip ons. Both are easily walked distance in, and will cover most weather conditions.

If you could travel anywhere in the world (with no war or political upheaval), where would it be?

Hands down New Zealand. Belle had such a good time and it looks so beautiful I'd like to see it in person. Plus I'd like to meet Jane!

How many Scrap Girls World Tours have you been on? Did you have a favorite destination or mode of travel?

This will be my first World Tour. I'm not the most confident traveler so ya'll will have to hold my hand!

So many of us SG shopping, a "shop 'til you drop" event, it was a lot of fun!    I'm ready to head back to the ship, have a swim and sit at the pool while thinking of my purchases.   Wonder where we should dine tonight?   🤔

Sounds like we can catch the tail end of shopping - if we miss them, maybe we can find them at the pool!

Monday, September 4th

Today we’re visiting the Space Needle.

image.png

The Space Needle is an icon of the city located in the Queen Anne neighborhood. It was built in the Seattle Center for the 1962 World’s Fair. It was once the tallest structure west of the Mississippi, standing at 605 feet (184 meters) high.

The Space Needle features an observation deck 520 ft (160 m) above ground, providing views of the downtown Seattle skyline, the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Mount Rainier, Mount Baker, Elliott Bay, and various islands in Puget Sound.  :robot-6_75X70: Trying not to think of all the trouble you could get into here.

Needles make me think of sewing. Add a bit of stitching to your layout.:3d-couturier:
