@Jane in N.Z Awesome idea painting will be fun. I have lots of natural light so that will be great foe painting.@scrapgarden should join us too...she has been hiding I think...maybe she has the horse in her room!!! I ordered some snacks🍉🥪🧁 so we can paint without feeling faint. They came up to restock the bar, they even left some fancy umbrellas for the drinks. Hot tub after if anyone wants to relax. See you all soon.

I love how youre the designated trouble maker!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Best way to distract the police from noticing @Florida granny was the one taking the large art item 🤣🤣🤣 I am so happy to be traveling with you all. For once I am not the trouble maker 😍😀🤣

Uh huh. Yup. You aren't the trouble maker. Yup. That's right.  But thanks for distracting the police!! Whew!

Tuesday, September 19th

After viewing all the amazing art Florence has to offer, it is time for us to take some time to do a bit of our own painting. :sart_painter_100-112: We have a 3-hour group lesson drawing and painting in the squares and gardens of Florence!

Add an artistic effect to a photo for your layout. :sart_painter_100-102:

Okay, I am going to overthink the technical. What is an artistic effect?? Maybe I just need to hit the hay and snooze. :bedtime: I have a "smoke" effect brush, is this an artistic effect?  Sorry, overthinking.

I do like the idea of creating some art.   I have been busy taking lots of photos of scenery so I might use one of those photos for my painting.

@Tracy  If your smoke brush alters the look of your photo that might work. Other wise it is mostly using a style or action on a photo.

I'm not going to micro-manage your page. Just have fun. :sart_painter_100-112:

Apparently, beside being trouble-makers, there are also some mind-readers on this ship!  🤣

Thank you. Guess I'll have to plot and plan and see what I can do as I dont have style or actions yet LOL They're in my wishlist. ❤️

It must be because I'm a day ahead of you guys I knew that was going to be :) Now we can get some serious art done :sart_painter_100-112: because we've been taught the techniques, so @Florida granny your painting is safely hidden I hope 😂

@Tracy an artistic paper can be anything from blending, adding scribbles ect to page, OOB photo, graffiti, or whatever you like, just basically something a bit different. Hope that helps :) Your smoke brush would be awesome as you could lay it over the entire page  so it gives a misty feel. Hope that helps :)

Sorry to derail the fun with my technical questions. You would never know I like to bend and push back against rules and things 🤣 But when it comes to these challenges and what is required I tend to get stuck in the technical rules and requirements. Partly to get it right and partly to learn new aspects.  Guess I need to go back to the hot tub and relax a little LOL Thank you all for the help and grace to understand the "technical" and freedom to go with "art" aspect. ❤️❤️❤️

Try your smoke brush if you want, if it alters the photo, it's art - and art is in the eye of the beholder (& creator!) anyway!  It doesn't have to necessarily be an action or style.   You can create art with blending, erasers, anything!   And, now that I wrote that I see Jane's answer so yes - everything Jane said!   @Jane in N.Z  🤣

And fine to push back on rules - I don't think there really are any in scrapbooking!  I always liked April saying "There are no Scrapbook police".    So go with it, have fun and create your own kind of art!  😊

@Jane in N.Z I can see that being a day ahead of the rest of us has its advantages! :D Thanks for aiding and abetting (or whatever that legal term is.)

@Tracy  Just do what Jane and Marilyn  said. Besides, April is busy bringing us to far off lands and won't notice little blips here and there ;). While you are thinking about "artistic effects", etc. how about we meet everyone at  the pool and see if we can find some drinks with little umbrellas in them? 🍹🧉

Oh, I saw some of our artworks already. They are gorgeous, ladies!  I don't think anyone will notice that someone (not me this time!) gave the horse a paint brush, too. :D

@TracyI once took a class where they taught us to know all the rules - so we could break them! Some of the best layouts and creative elements come from "Happy Mistakes".  Makes me think of a layout I once did about why I like digital scrapbooking and my response was because I could color outside of the lines. If you're interested you can see it HERE

In any event, I'm glad youre here and so happy to know you.

@Florida granny that horse is still around?? I bet he makes some pretty cool canvases! You could probably sell them! Many people would love art from a horse of course! The group painting activity really sounds wonderful - I hope all the paint stays on the canvas and the troublemakers amongst us don't start some sort of paint brush spatter fight! But, that can be art too!

I love your Color outside the lines. Its inspiring. I still feel afraid to try it but I am trying to get better. I can now stack paper like a novice. 🤣 All thanks to the challenge and great feedback I got. I'm now stacking paper in my normal book layouts. Its liberating. Now to do some more color outside the lines. ❤️ Thanks for sharing.

@Tracy speaking of breaking the rules, and re-reading the journaling on my color outside the lines LO, it would appear that I am not a rule-breaker, unless I'm on a world tour with a bunch of my Scrap Girl friends! And wearing a green bandana~ There's proof! :hit-head-with-hammer:
