Mindy
I also use ExtractNow to unzip. Works great & the price is right (free). Guess I haven't tried zipping files, so don't have any suggestions in that direction.

Actnfunny
I use the compress files that came with my XP to zip files. Its already on the computer. So far as I know it doesn't change anything, it just does its job.
J9Buckles
I zip and unzip files every day - it's how I transfer files, using a mini flash drive, from my pc at work to home so that I have a backup of everything. I use Ultimate Zip and find it to be perfect for my needs - and it's free! You can check it out here: http://www.ultimatezip.com
GreenStar
I use 7-Zip pretty often and haven't had any problems with it. It's free as well. You can find more info on it here: http://www.7-zip.org/
DDecker
The nice thing about extractnow is that it handles multiple compressed file types including .zip and .rar among others. It's quick and very adaptable! I use it everyday!
Rose Ann
For zipping I use Big Zip, it's freebie. I love Extract Now for the unzipping- especially after a sale!! Big Zip
ScrapGirlsRo
Have you tried the extraction program that comes with XP? It's free. Just right click on the file that you want to unzip and choose Extract All from the fly out menu. let it unzip into the same location. You'll end up with a nicely unzipped folder for you to use, right in the same spot with the zipped folder. they'll be side by side. Honestly, i rarely use anything else. I've tried some of the other programs but I always go back to the one that comes with the OS (XP or Vista) because it doesn't have problems. I have used some that unzip multiple folders at once but I run into errors with them. so I unzip a folder and file as I go. Bu that's just me!
