Flagg Family Rose Bush (4/14 challenge)
This rose bush has been in my family for years. There are bits of it in several locations because when someone moves, this rose bush goes too. Thanks for this challenge Elizabeth! I don't use yellow when scrapbooking, so this was really a challenge to me!
Note: I edited this because I found out the rose bush goes back to my grandfather's grandparents, a generation more than I thought!
Journaling:
This is the Flagg Family Rose Bush. My great-
great-grandparents had this bush in their yard.
My great-grandparents took some roots and
planted them in their yard and so did my
grandparents. When my parents bought their first
home, they took some of the roots and planted it in
their yard, under the dining room window. When
my grandparents moved to Florida in the mid 70’s
they took some of the bush with them, but it just
couldn’t survive in the heat and soil conditions.
When my parents moved to their new house, they
took part of this rose bush. And when we bought
our home, the first thing I did in the yard was
transplant some shoots of this bush. It is thriving
and I couldn’t be more proud to have it here. The
blooms are gorgeous, but don’t last long. So I enjoy
those two weeks of beautiful family blooms!
