Fri 30Sep Customer Submitted Challenge - Moon Lanterns

I used the High Pass Filter like Syndee explained on 08Sep and used Brandy's new dynamic brush as well as overlaying the photos and adding a style to the photo corners - this has been a good challenge for me! I used a template Brandy made with editable text and just made simple changes as I wanted the photo to star :-)

The OzAsia Moon Lantern Festival was a promotional event held by the Asian communities who call Adelaide home and was a celebration of Asian culture here. Callan's class was involved (1 of 2 with his buddy class) from our school, and only 11 schools from the entire State were invited to attend so it was a big deal. They spent months making their lanterns in the traditional way and had to be very careful getting the tissue paper over the frames and not tearing them whilst decorating them. Our kids represented Indonesia as they learn Indonesian at school.

Oh, Jode how lovely - layout and event - how wonderful for the children and your state to celebrate another culture! I love your wonderful photo - Callan looks so proud of his gorgeous lantern. Your beautifully blended background photo and titles give a warm, glowing look to your page and I love how you sat the pic on the large "M". The ribbon swirls look like they're gracefully blowing in a breeze and I really like the simple embellishments you used.

There are so many interesting parts to this page - I keep going back and poring all over it and oohing and aahhing... Really special - great job and glad to see you back! :)

The really is gorgeous! The soft blending of all the background elements...love the big M and how its holding up the picture. And the lantern dangling from the M is a great touch. Really great LO!

Absolutely beautiful! I love the soft, faded look and moonlit glow of the background. It goes so well with the wonderful photo. (How did you manage to get the beautiful night contrast of light and dark and still have Callan's face perfectly visible??) This is going right into my favorites as a lesson on typefaces. They aren't just words; they are graphic elements that add beauty to the page. So glad to have your work back in the gallery!
