September 2013 Art Journaling Chat: "The One Thing..."

Here's my layout for the Art Journaling Chat and Challenge found HERE. I had a hard time starting this page and it turned out SO unlike my usual that it was disconcerting! The way I finally began was to type the prompt on a page and keep typing whatever came to my head stream-of-consciousness style... Soon, I saw a theme emerging so after a while I looked for a template and backgrounds I thought would work. After that, I searched in my stash (& even made a Boutique sale purchase!), then literally dumped word art, symbols and embellishments onto my layout and started to play - moving things around, typing in some words -- play, play, play! Suddenly I was having fun and it actually LOOKED like a scrapbook page. In fact, although it was very unlike the soft, blended layouts I normally do, it looked like a PAPER Art Journal page! Go figure!

Try it out, you might have fun too! :)

For this layout I used:

SNU SS DLO Templates: Shape It Up

DEB Art Journal Inspirations eBook: About Me Paper

ACA Cloudburst Collection Mini

ASO SS Styles: Glitter Glows

KSC Believe in Miracles

KSC A New Leaf Collection

JZI Darkness Falls Collection Mini

TCS AYO Earthen Vessel Word Art

BMU SS Embellishment Templates: Trinket Charms

DEB Artsy Spirit Collection Biggie

JWE Doll Face

ACA Love Irrevocably Special

DCA Zip Kit: Rainbow Bright (retire?)

BMU SS Tools: Styles - Sequin Sparkle Gradients (retired)

All I can say is WOW! Your journaling is wonderful and oh so true. I love the dark background representing the clouds, the big orange sun and that beautiful rainbow just peeking through. I took another look and noticed the quarter moon hanging in the sky along with the golden stars. Beautiful imagery.

This is awesome Marilyn. I'm singing "Tomorrow" from Annie in my head from reading your inspiring and uplifting journaling. The rainbow is such a wonderful element to have added and I love how you put the word "doubt" in raindrops - really great! Such happy little stars and what a vibrant sun of hope. Love it!

Yes, awesome is right! Amazing thought process in the journaling and in the art! I love the little icon/girl (is that you?) I do like the way you dropped in the word art, too. You're right, these are very different colors and styles for you! WTG, Marilyn! Love the quotes. So much interesting going on here, I have the feeling you could do a Page Two?

It DOES look like a paper art journaling page! I love the bright sun against the dark background. It really illustrates your message of hope. :)

This is so cool! I love the overall design with the delicious yellow paper and fun glittery edges. Your journaling is wonderful, too! I like all the little elements and word art you added to make this a very special page.
