Here's mine for the Saturday Color challenge. The dark color I chose to work with is more dark brown than black

but there's lots of black in the layout too as well as the bright colors. I found out on Friday that this photo of mine is one

of the finalists selected for the Flamingo Gardens Photo Competition. There are about 10 finalists and the top

3 will be selected at an awards dinner later this month. I was at the gardens as a chaperone during Dylan's class trip about 2 weeks ago.

I found out about the competition and submitted a few photos. So pleased they chose one of mine. The photo will be

exhibited in the gift shop and will be available for purchase. All proceeds go back to the maintenance of

Flamingo Gardens. They are a beautiful gardens but also a rehabilitation sanctuary for injured wildlife.

WOW, Cheryll Ann - CONGRATULATIONS! That's wonderful that your photo is a finalist in the competition and it surely does deserve that honor, it's gorgeous! I love it's depth of field, and then how you so beautifully blended it into the most beautiful background. I also really like the title and borders you used - such an awesome page. Yea! For sure. :)

Congratulations!! Woot Woot. The photo is beautiful. If I were a judge, I'd pick it, too. :)

I love your lovely layout, too. I especially like the touches of pale orange and lavender with the dark background. Great page!

Congratulations! It's a great photo. I'd love to be able to take bird photos like that! Your dark background really shows it off.

Wow!!! What a creative photo! It certainly exudes elegance but also the more work related aspect of the sanctuary in that the bird has an awkward grace- perhaps this one was rehabilitated? I love that he is not in flight or looking perfect like so many bird shots... You deserve the honour indeed!!! Love how you used the flowers to highlight the photo and how the dark frames it so beautifully, wonderful.

Congratulations on being chosen as a finalist. The photo is spectacular! Your background colors work so well with the photo, much better than plain black would have, I think. The feathery white frame is a nice touch.
